Roles
Open Roles in the server menu. Every server has the @everyone role, which applies to all members. Create other roles, give them a name and color and, if you like, show their members separately in the list.
The order of roles is the hierarchy: someone with a role can only manage and moderate people below it. The server owner is above everyone.
Server permissions
Permissions are grouped into General, Members, Text, Voice and Advanced — for example, viewing the channel, sending messages, sending files, adding reactions, pinning messages, managing channels, creating invites, kicking, banning and timing out. The Voice group covers connecting, speaking and sharing the screen, plus muting, deafening and moving other people.
Per-channel permissions
In a channel’s settings, set each permission for a role or person to one of three states:
- ✓ Allow — grants it in this channel, even if the role lacks it server-wide;
- / Inherit — uses the server setting;
- ✕ Deny — blocks it in this channel.
For a private channel, deny View channel for @everyone and allow it for the roles that may enter. Everything is checked on the Zync server, not just in the app.
